Numerous sources report that Anthony Mackie is in talks to play the Marvel hero Falcon in the sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger. The character was created by Stan Lee and artist Gene Colan in the late 1960s, and he was one of the first African American heroes to appear in a mainstream comic. Falcon’s real name is Sam Wilson, and his superpowers include the ability to fly, and communicate telepathically with birds.
Marvel hasn’t confirmed or denied the rumours of Mackie’s involvement. The new movie, titled Captain America: The Winter Soldier, is slated to hit theatres on April 4, 2014. It’s expected to he directed by Community writers Anthony and Joe Russo.
