Attack the Block director Joe Cornish is set to helm the big screen adaptation of Archaia’s comic book series Rust. The books tell the story of a family that must deal with a jetpack-wearing boy who crash lands on their farm one day, and to make matters worse, he’s being chased by a giant robot. The first book, titled Rust: A Visitor in the Field, was published last fall. The second book, known as Rust: Secrets of the Cell, will hit book shelves this October.
Rust will be the second feature film directed by Joe Cornish, but he’s no stranger to comic books. He co-wrote the screenplay for The Adventures of Tintin, and is also working on the upcoming Ant-Man superhero movie from Marvel.
Cornish was rumoured to be directing a big screen adaptation of the cyberpunk novel Snow Crash, but there’s no word if that is still on.
