After almost three years, Avatar is finally getting a wide release on Blu-ray 3D. Although the film has come home several times in 2D, it was only available in the eye-popping format as part of a special bundle with Panasonic TVs. The new 3D edition will arrive October 16, but it won’t include any special features.
Don’t forget that director James Cameron is working on a pair of Avatar sequels, the first of which is due in 2015. They’ll take audiences back to the alien world of Pandora, and explore strange new environments including the Pandoran oceans.
The new 3D version of Cameron’s Titanic will also sail to Blu-ray on September 10.
