Deadline reports that a TV series based on the 1968 cult classic B-movie Barbarella is in development. The original starred Jane Fonda as a space explorer on a mission to save Earth, with plenty of skimpy outfits and sexual innuendo to go around.

In what may come as a bit of a surprise, the Barbarella TV series will be produced by Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn. There’s no word yet on when it will make its way to our galaxy. Hollywood was trying to get a new Barbarella movie off the ground for several years, but it looks like that project is now dead in the water.

Nicolas Winding Refn is attached to helm a big screen remake of another classic sci-fi film, Logan’s Run, but it has yet to be given a green light.
