In a surprise announcement, Electronic Arts has officially confirmed the existence of Battlefield 4.

No intel about what players can expect from the game has been revealed. All we know is that the first beta for Battlefield 4 will be available exclusively to those who pre-order the limited edition of another EA shooter, Medal of Honor Warfighter. That game will deploy on October 23, but the Battlefield 4 beta won’t begin until fall 2013. Click here if you’re interested.

EA says that more details on Battlefield 4 will be revealed “at a later date.” There’s no word on when that later date will be. The announcement should surprise fans given that Battlefield 3 is less than a year old, and new downloadable content is still rolling out. Close Quarters arrived last month, and the next batch, Armored Kill, will go online this fall.
