Cryptic Studios has announced that players will finally be able to build and customize their own Starbases in Star Trek Online, thanks to the upcoming update Season 6: Under Siege.
The design is inspired by the mushroom look of the Federation Starbases seen in the Star Trek movies and TV shows. Since the game takes place in the year 2409 (several decades ahead of the Next Generation era), the development team made their designs more sleek and futuristic. Starbases will come in 5 Tiers and get bigger over time, and the more ships you have in your fleet will allow you to make your Starbase even bigger. Around the main base you can have smaller science stations, which will make it feel like an interstellar hub.
Star Trek Online’s Season 6 update will launch later this year, and more new features will be announced soon. In the meantime, you can check out these fancy stills:
