Cabin in the Woods Director Rewriting World War Z

Deadline reports that Cloverfiled screenwriter and Cabin in the Woods co-writer/director Drew Goddard is rewriting the screenplay for World War Z. The troubled project began shooting earlier this year, and things were put on hold after rumoured script problems. Goddard is reportedly crafting an entirely new ending for the film, and additional writers may have to be brought in as well.
World War Z is based on the bestselling novel by author Max Brooks, and will star Brad Pitt as a man struggling to survive the undead apocalypse. It was planned to infect theatres before the end of the year, but has been delayed until 2013 to accommodate the rewrites.
Drew Goddard is also writing the big screen adaptation of the novel Robopocalypse. It’ll be directed by Steven Spielberg, and will land in theatres in 2014.
