At the San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend, Marvel officially announced that the rumoured Guardians of the Galaxy movie is the real deal, and it’s scheduled to hit theatres on August 1, 2014. There’s no word yet on who might direct or star in the film, but a cool piece of concept art (above) and a logo (below) have been released.

Marvel also announced titles and release dates for several other new movies. The thunderous sequel Thor: The Dark World will bring the hammer down in theatres on November 8, 2013, with Captain America: The Winter Solider following on April 4, 2014. Scott Pilgrim director Edgar Wright’s long-in-development Ant Man movie is finally moving forward, but no release date has been given. Iron Man 3 is the next Marvel movie, and it will fly into movie houses on May 3, 2013.
