Variety reports that a weekly TV series based on the horrific Hellraiser movies is in the works. It’ll focus on the exploits of the demonic Cenobites and their iconic leader, Pinhead, who traps unsuspecting human souls and then tortures them for all eternity. The characters promise their victims unimaginable pain, and pleasure… because, you know, some people are into that kind of thing.
The TV series is being developed by the newly-formed Sonar Entertainment and Larry Kuppin, one the producers behind the first three Hellraiser movies. Franchise creator Clive Barker is not involved in the project, and there’s no word yet on when it might hit the airwaves.
Fans will be delighted (or not) to know that a big screen remake of the original Hellraiser film is also in the works, but it’s been trapped in development hell for several years and it’s unclear if it will ever escape into cinemas.
