Paramount has announced that Indiana Jones: The Complete Adventures will hit Blu-ray on September 18. The set will include all four Indy movies, so yes, you’ll have to buy Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
The first film, Raiders of the Lost Ark, is getting a frame-by-frame restoration from the original camera elements, which means that it will look and sound better than ever. The restoration is being supervised by director Steven Spielberg and sound designer Ben Burtt. Let’s just hope they don’t digitally remove the glass from the snake pit scene like they did for the DVD release back in 2003.
Paramount promises that the other three films will look great too, but they’re not getting the same extensive restoration as Raiders. The disks will include new behind-the scenes content, documentaries, interviews, featurettes, and more goodies, although a list of special features has not been given.
There’s no word yet if the first three films will be released on Blu-ray by themselves, for those of us who don’t want to shell out our hard-earned cash for the bad one. Keep in mind that Crystal Skull is already available on Blu-ray.
