Variety reports that actor and director Kenneth Branagh is in talks to do both jobs on the upcoming Jack Ryan movie. Word first surfaced earlier this year that he might sit in the director’s chair, and now it seems that financier Paramount Pictures also want him to play the film’s main villain. Thor was Branagh’s last big movie, but he did not appear in front of the camera.
Star Trek’s Chris Pine is already set to play Jack Ryan in the new film. It’ll be a clean reboot for the Tom Clancy character, who has already appeared in four other movies and been played by three different actors. Shooting is expected to begin later this year.
