Following yesterday’s leaked reveal, Capcom has officially announced that Lost Planet 3 is in the works, and will hit the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 in early 2013.
The new mission takes place before the events of the first Lost Planet game, and brings players to E.D.N. III on a mission to find energy and prepare the icy world for colonization. That may not be the best idea, because, as fans know, the planet is infested with the monstrous Akrid creatures. The developers are bringing more variety to the creatures this time around, so there will be mammals, fish, and crustacean enemies, along with the more familiar insects. Players will also fill the shoes of a new main character, a pilot named Jim, who leaves Earth to take on the hazardous assignment.
Capcom promises a diverse range of new gameplay features with a mix of first-person combat in mining rigs, and third-person gunplay on foot. Loads of new multiplayer modes will also be included, but Capcom hasn’t given any specifics on that. Expect more details soon, and in the meantime, check out the sweet stills below.
