It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything new about the planned sequel to the 2010 indie movie Monsters, but now according to Screen Daily, it’s finally moving forward with the new title Monsters: Dark Continent.
The film was originally slated to be helmed by first-time feature directors Brent Bonacorso and Jesse Atlas, but it will now be directed by British filmmaker Tom Green, whose previous credits include episodes of the TV series Misfits. A new screenwriter has also been brought on to craft the script. Monsters: Dark Continent will continue the story of alien creatures that come to Earth inside a meteorite, and then spread. Expect to see the contaminated zone get bigger and bigger.
The original film’s writer and director Gareth Edwards is not involved in the sequel. He’s currently making the new Godzilla movie, due out in 2014.
