The loveable indie game hero Super Meat Boy will appear in another new indie title, Retro City Rampage.

He’ll be a playable character in the main Retro City Rampage world, and will also get his own mini-game known as Virtual Meat Boy. It’s a pseudo 3D racer that pokes fun at Nintendo’s failed Virtual Boy console, and can be played in retina-burning red 3D, or good ol’ fashioned stereoscopic 3D. Given all those spikes and grinders, it looks like Virtual Meat Boy will be just as challenging as the original Super Meat Boy.

Retro City Rampage brings the open-world mayhem of games like Grand Theft Auto and Saints Row into an 8-bit environment, and Super Meat Boy isn’t the only crossover. Players will also get a free 8-bit version of ‘Splosion Man and BIT.TRIP: RUNNER. It will be released soon on all major platforms, and will be playable at E3.
