New Trailer for Resident Evil: Retribution

As the fifth entry in the series, Resident Evil: Retribution is already a little confusing. How did Umbrella capture Alice again? Wasn’t the entire world already an apocalyptic wasteland in the last two movies? Is the trailer really suggesting that the previous films were all in Alice’s head?

Whatever the case, Sony Pictures is still producing Resident Evil movies, and even if they’re completely unrelated to the plot of the actual video games, each one still makes a ton of money:

-Resident Evil - $33 million budget; $102 million box office gross
-Resident Evil: Apocalypse - $45 million budget; $129 million box office gross
-Resident Evil: Extinction - $45 million budget; $148 million box office gross
-Resident Evil: Afterlife - $60 million budget; $296 million box office gross

At least Paul W.S. Anderson is directing again, and if you kind of squint your eyes, the upcoming Resident Evil: Retribution film almost looks like a live-action adaptation of Resident Evil 6.

If you’re a fan of the games and the movies, you’ll be glad to catch a glimpse of several RE classic main characters in the trailer below, including Leon S. Kennedy, Ada Wong, Barry Burton, along with the returning Jill Valentine and Albert Wesker.
