After weeks of rumours, LucasArts has finally announced Star Wars 1313, the latest game in the sci-fi franchise.
You can expect a more dark and gritty Star Wars experience than ever before. Players will take control of a lethal bounty hunter who uses an arsenal of exotic weaponry to hunt down his targets. He gets caught up in a criminal conspiracy on the city planet of Coruscant, and will spend most of his time exploring the ruthless, subterranean underworld known as Level 1313. LucasArts promises plenty of fast-paced combat, and unlike previous Star Wars games, you’ll have to use human skills and gadgets instead of supernatural Force powers.
Judging by the Imperial TIE Fighters and shuttlecraft seen in the image above, it looks like the game is set during the time frame of the Original Trilogy. Hopefully that means you’ll get to bump into iconic villains like Boba Fett and Jabba the Hutt, and rebel scum like Han Solo and Luke Skywalker. Development is being handled internally at Lucasfilm, so Industrial Light & Magic and Skywalker Sound are contributing.
A release date for Star Wars 1313 has not been named, but more details will be revealed at E3 next week. In the meantime, you can check out these stills:
