Bloody Disgusting reports that the makers of The Walking Dead TV series are discussing the possibility of creating a film based on the franchise. There’s no word on how serious these talks are, or if it the potential movie will use the same actors and continue with the events from the show. Bloody Disgusting adds that if a movie does get made, it will be at least a few years before it gets underway.

The Walking Dead was originally pitched as a film before being turned into a TV series, and keep in mind that executive producer Gale Anne Hurd has a background in movies, producing films like Aliens and Terminator. Given the success of the series and the fact that it’s already breached out into other areas like video games and even an obstacle course, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see it turned into a movie at some point in the future.

The third season of The Walking Dead is currently shooting, and will premiere on October 14.
