Deadline reports that the ninth Doctor Who Christopher Eccleston is set to play the main villain in Thor: The Dark World, the sequel to the thunderous Marvel superhero movie. He’ll play Malekith The Accursed (see below), an evil dark elf who enters into a deadly alliance with Thor’s mischievous brother Loki. The main villain was originally expected to be played by Casino Royale bad guy Mads Mikkelsen, who dropped out earlier this year.
Thor: The Dark World will begin shooting this fall, and hammer theatres on November 6, 2013.
