Finnish developer Rovio is sure to be happy right about now, because the insanely popular Angry Birds franchise has hit 1 billion downloads. That number includes all the different versions of the game, including the recently-released Angry Birds Space, and also takes into account every platform, ranging from the iPhone all the way to the PS3.
Rovio plans to turn Angry Birds into a huge multimedia franchise, with animated shows and new merchandise on the way. The studio has also acquired Futuremark Games Studio, the developer behind the PC shooter Shattered Horizon and the high-tech 3DMark software.
