Astronaut Spacewalk Simulator Coming to iOS

If you’re looking for something a little different in a mobile game, then the upcoming simulator Astronaut Spacewalk might be right up your alley. It’s exactly what it sounds like, a flight sim “game” where you attempt to shuttle your way through zero gravity on a variety of NASA missions.

Unlike real NASA spacewalks, you don’t have a lifeline to keep you tethered to your spaceship, so if you mess up and panic, you’ll be spinning way off path, and possibly burn up in the earth’s atmosphere. Or the sun, which would be a lot worse.

Where the challenge really comes in is resource management. Not only do you have to keep your speed, angle, and momentum finely tuned, but you’ll run out of propellent and electricity in your spacesuit if you mess around.

As the developer notes on the game’s official blog site, it’s currently in the review process for the App Store and will hopefully be released soon, pending any issues.

There’s also a new gameplay video showing one of the missions, but the video below from the guys at TouchArcade is much funnier to watch. Every who’s played the game generally notes the same thing, it’s hard to learn, but when you get the hand of it, it’s strangely addicting.

Personally, I can’t wait to play it. Not only have the visuals continued to look impressive during the development updates, but the sound effects and controls seems perfectly suited for the iPhone.
