Techland Files Trademark for Dead Stop

Trademark registries usually are a solid source for unannounced video game titles and upcoming releases, so it’s fair to assume to the Dead Island creators are well on their way to expanding their hit title’s universe. According to a document from the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the developer’s next title may be Dead Stop, heading to smartphones and tablets.

Siliconera was the first to spot the filing, as the paperwork in question reveals that Techland registered the title on July 23rd last week on behalf of their headquarters in Poland.

Specifically, the special type of registration could fit any number of devices, as the listing covers a wide range of categories?but it’s definitely related to an upcoming video game of some type:

“Interactive game software; interactive game programs; video game programs; electronic game programs; electronic game software; game software for use on any computerized platform, including hand-held electronic devices, electronic entertainment devices, telecommunications devices, mobile phones, electronic communication devices or personal digital assistant devices; downloadable interactive, video and electronic game programs”

Techland also trademarked something called Dead World earlier last year (which was also spotted by Siliconera shortly after the filing process ended) but nothing’s been heard about it in the nine months since then. Perhaps we’ll hear something more concrete at Gamescom this year or E3 2013 next year.
