Blizzard has delayed the launch of Diablo III’s real-money auction house once again. The auction house was originally scheduled to launch May 22, then it got pushed back to May 29 and now it’s been delayed again with no new date offered. The developer released the following statement:

“In light of the post-launch obstacles we’ve encountered, we have made the decision to move the launch of the real-money auction house beyond the previously estimated May time frame.”

“As we mentioned in our original announcement, our goal has always been to ensure everyone has the smoothest experience possible when the real-money auction house launches, and we need a bit more time to iron out the existing general stability and gameplay issues before that feature goes live.”

“While we don’t have a new launch date to share just yet, we’ll have more information soon.”

Delaying the real-money auction house is a wise decision by Blizzard. Let’s face it, the last thing they need is someone exploiting it on top of everything else that’s happened. The team either wants to spend more time fixing various bugs present in the game or they are worried about how secure the auction house will be ? considering how many items have been stolen from players over the past week. It’s going to be risky, and when real-money is involved the team can’t afford to mess up.
