The third season of the hit HBO comedy series Eastbound & Down will premiere on Sunday, February 19. Danny McBride returns as washed-up major-league pitcher Kenny Powers, who’s out to resurrect his baseball career by becoming the closer for the minor-league Myrtle Beach Mermen. Saturday Night Live veteran Jason Sudeikis joins the cast as Kenny’s new best friend and kindred spirit Shane, a veteran catcher with the Mermen. You better enjoy the third season while it lasts, because it will only consist of eight episodes.
In related news, the British TV series Life’s Too Short starring Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, and Warwick Davis (Wicket) will also premiere February 19 on HBO. It uses a faux documentary style, and follows Davis as he struggles to jumpstart his fading career and maintain his status as Britain’s “go-to” little person.
