Hannibal Lecter TV Series Bites a Director

Deadline reports that 30 Days of Night director David Slade will helm the pilot episode of a TV series based on the sophisticated serial killer Dr. Hannibal Lecter. The character has appear in several different novels and movies, and was portrayed most famously by Anthony Hopkins in The Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal. There’s no word yet on casting for the show.

This won’t be the first small screen project for David Slade, he’s also helmed episodes of Breaking Bad. The series is being produced by Heroes writer and Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller. It will begin airing this fall, if the pilot gets picked up.
