– Apparently the world of Oz is too great and powerful for director Sam Raimi, as his directing duties for it have caused him to bow out of helming a World of Warcraft feature film. There is no word yet on a replacement director for the WoW adaptation, or when the film will arrive. Oz: The Great and Powerful however, arrives next March.
– This one is for the film geeks out there. A documentary is in the works focusing on legendary movie poster artist Drew Struzan. Titled Drew: The Man Behind the Poster, it will include interviews with collaborators such as George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, and Guillermo del Toro. Struzan has created more than 200 iconic pieces of film art, and his film will release later this year.
– NASA and Microsoft have teamed up to release Mars Rover Landing, a free downloadable Kinect game for the 360. Players guide Curiosity, the latest Mars rover, to a safe landing on the red planet. The real life Curiosity contains a mini science lab on board which NASA will use to analyze soil and see if life has ever evolved on the planet. The game is out now, and the real Curiosity is set to land on August 5.
