Laurence Fishburne has been cast in the upcoming TV series about The Silence of the Lambs serial killer Dr. Hannibal Lecter. Fishburne will play FBI agent Jack Crawford, a role that was filled by actor Scott Glenn in Lambs. The good doctor will be played by Casino Royale villain Mads Mikkelsen.
The cannibalistic new show is being produced by Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller, and a 13-episode season will begin airing this fall. 30 Days of Night director David Slade will helm the pilot episode.
Another TV series inspired by The Silence of the Lambs is also in the works. It will focus on young FBI agent Clarice Starling, and chronicle her career after the events of Lambs but before the sequel, Hannibal.
