THQ’s released a lengthy gameplay trailer for Metro: Last Light, showcasing much of the environment and combat that you’ll experience within the ravaged wastelands of Moscow. It’s not much on the “survival horror” factor, but there’s lots of gunplay throughout the preview.
As the footage rolls, the first half of the clip is spent foraging for items, reemphasizing Metro 2033‘s gimmick of constantly pushing you to explore wreckage and loot corpses. Since the outside natural environment in Metro: Last Light‘s post-apocalpyse lacks breathable air, it’ll once again be critical to continually find air filters for your breathing mask.
Mutants roaming the countryside (the first encounter hits at a little past the 5:00 mark) all seem to have some short scenes where up-close melee fighting is unavoidable, and winged mutants will also try picking you up and carrying you off. Good thing you have a constant companion, even if he is kind of a chatterbox.
Keep in mind, the game’s not out until 2013, and the gameplay is all pulled from an pre-alpha build.
