Marvel vs. Capcom Artbook Coming From UDON

UDON Entertainment, a media publisher and art studio long known for working together with Capcom, has announced a new artbook chronicling the nearly 20 years of one of gaming’s most infamous cross-overs.

Coming in just shy of 200 pages, Marvel vs. Capcom: Official Complete Works will span the history of the Japanese game developer’s collaborations with American comic creator Marvel, from 1993 arcade release The Punisher up to this year’s Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

As noted in the announcement, this is the first time much of this material has been compiled in one source in any country, and will feature official artwork, concept sketches, as well as brand new original pieces by illustrators such as Joe Ng, Long Vo, Chamba, Adam Warren, and Takeshi Miyazawa.

“This book means a lot to UDON,” publisher and editor-in-chief Erik Ko said in the announcement. “It was back 10 years ago that Joe Quesada at Marvel Comics gave UDON our first freelance job, and kick-started our creative services department. Then just a few years later, we became our own publisher, working closely with Capcom to publish original Street Fighter® comics! Being able to publish a book containing amazing work from both Marvel and Capcom is like a big ‘thank you’ from us to the folks who helped make us what we are today. Thank you Marvel, thank you Capcom!”

Marvel vs. Capcom: Official Complete Works will be released this November in softcover, however, a special hardcover edition will debut as a San Diego Comic Con exclusive when the show kicks off on July 11th. Hardcover price for the book is $100, while softcover will be $44.99.
