Leaked images have appeared online claiming to be of Blockbuster UK’s internal database. The screens show 25 titles that will supposedly be available for the Wii U’s launch.
The images were released by GoNintendo and list several games that have already been announced alongside some that haven’t. The full list is below:
There are two titles that stand out on this list: The first is the Wii U exclusive Assassin’s Creed title that was mentioned back at last year’s E3. No solid details about the title have even been mentioned yet, so it’s odd that it would be listed as a launch title. Then there’s the listing for Splinter Cell 5, we already know that Ubisoft Toronto is working on a new game in the franchise, but again it still hasn’t been officially announced, though we do expect news at E3 next month.
We’re also curious about the listing for another New Super Mario Bros. title. Nintendo just announced New Super Mario Bros. 2 for 3DS, and it makes sense to launch the Wii U with the company’s most recognizable icon. What’s up with the “Mii” at the end though? Will we be bringing our little wide-eyed avatars into an actual Mario game? Perhaps it has something to do with how we’ll interact with the controller’s screen. Either way, any time there’s a new Mario game our happy meter jumps up a notch.
Don’t take this list at face value, as it is no where near confirmed. However, just because it says launch titles it doesn’t mean they will come out in the first month of release. Most console’s launch windows stretch for the first three to four months. Hopefully Nintendo will be willing to share more details at E3.
