Silent Hunter Online Announced


Get ready for Silent Hunter Online, a free-to-play, browser-based game based on the long-running submarine simulation series. It will give users a single player and co-op campaign where they’ll battle for control of the Atlantic ocean in World War II, and the success or failure of each mission will impact all the other players. You’ll also be able to take control of a variety of historically accurate subs.

Silent Hunter Online is being developed by Düsseldorf based Ubisoft Blue Byte, the same studio behind The Settlers and Anno. It will run on Adobe’s Flash Player 11, so don’t expect it to sail onto iOS devices anytime soon. There’s no word yet on a release date, but registrations have already begun for the closed beta, so click here if you’re interested.

The trailer doesn’t give away much in terms of gameplay, so the stills below may give you a better idea of what to expect:
