Not everyone is happy about the new MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic. The ultra-conservative Family Research Council is speaking out against the game because it will soon give players the option of having same-sex relationships. The group claims this will wrongly expose children to homosexulaity, and adds that gays and lesbians have no place in the Star Wars universe. Apparently they think R2-D2 and C-3PO are just friends.
The Family Research Council is also a Christian organization, so perhaps it finds the game’s lack of faith disturbing.
Developer BioWare has yet to respond to the ridiculous accusations. The studio has said that it plans to introduce same-sex relationships in a future update to the game.
BioWare is no stranger to sexual controversy. Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age both allow players to enter same-sex romances, and civil society has yet to crumble.
