The 2009 Australian horror movie The Loved Ones has been picked up for distribution by Paramount Pictures, and will finally come to North America on June 1.

The film tells the chilling story of an insane high school girl who kidnaps the boy she has a crush on after he refuses to take her to the prom. She then holds him hostage in her house with the help of her even crazier daddy, and stages a torturous prom of her own. It received the Midnight Madness Peoples Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival back in 2009.

So far, The Loved Ones is only set up for a limited release in select cities, but you can request a screening in your hometown by heading over to the film’s official website.
