Now that the World of Warcraft movie has lost its original director Sam Raimi, the long-in-development project is getting a rewrite. Variety reports that the film’s production company Legendary Entertainment has hired Blood Diamond screenwriter Charles Leavitt to pen a new version of the script.
There’s no word yet on when the big screen project might begin shooting, but a new director will have to be found before it does. Sam Raimi dropped out due to his commitments to another fantasy adventure, Oz: The Great and Powerful, and there’s no word yet on who might replace him.
The next World of Warcraft game expansion, Mists of Pandaria, will hit the PC and Mac on September 25.
