A winner has been named for the first annual Your Film Festival, a short film fest where movies were posted on YouTube and then voted on by the online community. The top prize went to The Guilt, a 13-minute revenge tale by Spanish director David Victori, which you can watch above.
50 semi-finalists for the competition were chosen by legendary filmmaker Ridley Scott and his Scott Free Productions, then YouTube users picked the top 10 in an online vote. The makers of all 10 finalists were flown to the Venice International Film Festival, where The Guilt was named the winner. Director David Victori will get $500,000 to create more movies for YouTube, and best of all, Ridley Scott and Prometheus actor Michael Fassbender will serve as executive producers on whatever he decides to make.
YouTube has already said that Your Film Festival will be back next year. If you’re an aspiring filmmaker, it’s never too early to start planning your submission.
