Milo Ventimiglia Joins L.A. Noir – NEWS

Deadline reports that Heroes star Milo Ventimiglia has been cast in the new TV series L.A. Noir from The Walking Dead producer Frank Darabont. No, the show isn’t based based on the videogame, it’s inspired by a non-fiction book titled L.A. Noir that chronicles the fight between the LAPD and gangsters in the 1940s. It’ll hit the small screen this fall.

Frank Darabont started development on L.A. Noir after quitting as show runner on The Walking Dead.

Michael Fassbender Cast in Ridley Scott/Cormac McCarthy Movie

Deadline reports that X-Men: First Class villain Michael Fassbender has joined the cast of The Counselor, a new thriller written by The Road author Cormac McCarthy, and helmed by legendary director Ridley Scott. Fassbender will play a lawyer who gets sucked into the gritty world of illegal drugs. Shooting begins this summer.

Michael Fassbender previously worked with Ridley Scott on the Alien prequel Prometheus, which hits Earth on June 8.

MechWarrior Tactics Announced – NEWS

Get ready for MechWarrior Tactics, a turn-based tactical combat game set to hit the PC later this year. It takes place in the same BattleTech universe as the classic MechWarrior games, and like similar titles, players will be able to customize their mechs. MechWarrior Tactics will launch later this year.

Another game in the franchise, MechWarrior Online, is set to arrive this summer. It’s being created by a different developer and publisher.

Young Justice: Legacy Announced – NEWS

The animated TV series Young Justice is getting its own videogame in the form of Young Justice: Legacy. Like the show, the game will follow the exploits of a teenaged group of superheroes under the guidance of DC’s legendary Justice League. According to the official site, players will be able to take control of 12 different heroes, and battle twelve different villains, but it’s unclear if this will be a fighting game or something else.

Expect more details on Young Justice: Legacy to be revealed in the coming months. It’s slated for release in early 2013 on the PS3, 360 and Wii, and we wouldn’t be surprised if a Wii U version surfaces as well.

Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock Debut Trailer – First Vita Unreal Engine Title

Epic Games has licenced out its Unreal Engine 3 for use on the PlayStation Vita version of Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock.

According to Epic, this will be the first Vita game to use the Unreal Engine. The game is also set to release on PC and PlayStation 3 this March. ”At Supermassive, we always try to be very pragmatic about our choice of technology and choose the right tool for the job at hand,” said Jonathan Amor, chief technology officer at Supermassive Games. ”Our aim for Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock is to match it as closely as possible in aesthetics, tone and sound to the television series, and also to achieve a new level of quality on Sony’s outstanding platforms.”

“Critical factors in our decision to license Unreal Engine 3 include the capability and maturity of the Unreal Editor and tool chain, and we required an engine that has proven success in the marketplace,” he added.

“We are big Doctor Who fans here at Epic. It’s brilliant to see the world of Doctor Who brought to life by the team at Supermassive and especially to see Unreal Engine 3 powering the game that’s bringing this universe to a whole new platform and an entirely new generation of gamers and Doctor Who fans,” added Mike Gamble, European territory manager for Epic.

Nintendo Direct Roundup – NEWS

Nintendo has made a few big announcements with its latest Nintendo Direct video. The most surprising piece of news is the fact that Sega, Capcom and Namco Bandai are teaming up for a mysterious new crossover game on the 3DS. A cryptic Japanese teaser site has gone online, but no other details are available at this time.

The popular Japanese action RPG The Last Story is finally coming to North America. An official release date has not been named, but Nintendo promises that it will arrive before the end of the year.

The highly-anticipated Mario Tennis game for the 3DS has been named Mario Tennis Open, and will hit the court on May 25. It’ll support local and online multiplayer for up to four players, and use the 3DS gyroscope and touchscreen for new controls.

For those of you anxiously awaiting Kid Icarus: Uprising, Nintendo has shown off plenty of new multiplayer modes, moves and other goodies from the game. Check them out in the video below.

A brainy new game from the makers of Brain Age is in the works for the 3DS, but a title and release date have not been revealed. Expect it to use the eye-popping visuals of the 3DS for new brain teasers.

The tactical RPG Fire Emblem: Awakening will get paid downloadable content after its arrives this spring. The extras will consist of new maps and missions, making it one of the first 3DS game to embrace the DLC craze.

The survival horror game Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly is getting a remake for the Wii. The original was released on the PS2 back in 2003, and the new version will feature two player co-op and other new modes.

Nintendo also announced that Xenoblade Chronicles is set to hit North American on April 6, and Kid Icarus: Uprising lands on March 23.

Ironclad Games Announces Sins of a Dark Age – NEWS

Ironclad Games, the studio behind the hit RTS title Sins of a Solar Empire, has announced its latest project, Sins of a Dark Age. It’s a real-time fantasy strategy adventure that will have a strong emphasis on team-based gameplay, and best of all, it’ll be free-to-play.

More details on Sins of a Dark Age will be unveiled soon. A release window has not been announced.

New Uncharted 3 DLC Arrives, Additional Mode Announced

The Flashback Map Pack 2 for Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception hits the PlayStation Network today, bringing classic locations from previous Uncharted titles into the new adventure. Developer Naughty Dog isn’t taking a break, because the studio has announced an all-new multiplayer mode, known as Co-Op Shade Survival. It hits the PSN next month, and, if the still below is any indication, it will feature the fiery bad guys from the climax of Uncharted 3′s single player campaign.

Anyone who has already purchased the Uncharted 3 Season Pass will get the new DLC and the new mode for free. The Flashback Map Pack 2 costs $9.99 by itself, and a price for the Co-Op Shade Survival mode has not been revealed.

Borderlands 2 Arrives September 18 – NEWS

Gearbox Software has revealed that Borderlands 2 will hit the PS3, PC and Xbox 360 on September 18 in North America, and September 21 everywhere else. Like its predecessor, the new game combines intense first-person mayhem with RPG elements, and offers way more weapons customization than ever before.

Some pre-order incentives have also been unveiled. Those who secure a copy now can gain access to the Borderlands 2 Premiere Club, complete with exclusive in-game items:

-The Gearbox Gun Pack: a collection of unique guns to help players begin their journey on Pandora.
-The Golden Key: used to unlock a mysterious item in the mysterious Golden Sanctuary Loot Chest.
-The Vault Hunter’s Relic: boosts your gear-hunting fortune while playing solo or teaming up with friends.

Director Sam Mendes has posted his first videoblog from the set of the next James Bond movie, Skyfall. In the clip, he examines the legacy of the franchise, and says that he hopes his film will live up to expectations. Daniel Craig returns as the world famous super spy, continuing the story from Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace

Skyfall will infiltrate theatres on November 9.
