If you’re a proud Vita owner and have been eagerly anticipating the chance to play the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection on that gorgeous OLED screen, you’ll soon be getting that chance.

Konami has announced that the collection?which remasters Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater with “stunning, upgraded graphics”, will be hitting store shelves in North America on June 12th.

It won’t just be the visuals that get an upgrade, as both games will offer up some new Vita-specific features. For example, Konami boasts that “using just their fingers, gamers can zoom in on captivating cut-scenes, peek around corners, interrogate enemies, cycle through weapons, and perform rapid attacks with their knife.”

Interrogating enemies via a touch screen, for when you absolutely, positively need to get information from your captive by punching him in an exact spot over and over at the touch of a finger!

MOVIES/TV:

- The Incredible Hulk will get another shot at live-action TV next fall. Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth) will have a hand in its creation, but few details are known other than that it will hit ABC. It won’t star Mark Ruffalo, however, as he will keep his big green rage on the big screen.

- Thor co-star Idris Elba has confirmed that his character Heimdall will be back for Thor 2. As the guardian of Asgard’s bifrost bridge, Elba only had a small part in the original title, but he hopes to have a more prominent role in the sequel. No release date has been set for Thor 2, but you can currently catch Thor hammering bad dudes in your third viewing of The Avengers.

- The Avengers will have its first real competition at the box office this weekend, in the form of Hasbro’s Battleship. Check out our Battleship behind the scenes here.

- The sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes has gained a screenwriter. Scott Z. Burns, writer of Contagion, will pen the script to the monkey takeover flick. Not much is yet known, but it will be set several years after the original and continue the simian revolution and Andy Serkis will be back as head ape Caesar.

- Screenwriter Aaron Sorkin is set to pen a screenplay about another genius of age of technology. Having won an Oscar for his script The Social Network, Sorkin is now on board to pen a film about Apple cofounder Steve Jobs. The film will be overseen by Social Network producer Scott Rudin. Ashton Kutcher is already set to play Steve Jobs in a separate film, simply titled Jobs, which is set for theaters next year.

- Harold and Kumar will become an animated series soon. The films stars will reprise their roles in vocal form, with the series hitting Adult Swim this fall. Hopefully it fares better than recently cancelled TV adaptation of Napoleon Dynamite.

GAMES:

- Halo 4’s multiplayer modes have gotten some light shed on them. The biggest addition is Spartan Ops, which is a story-based set of multiplayer missions that focuses on a new group of Spartan warriors, and can be played either solo or up to four player co-op. These missions will roll out on a weekly basis to players, and best of all, they’re free! In other Halo 4 news, a $99 limited edition has been announced, which includes a metal case, extended cut of the live action web series Forward Unto Dawn, and best of all 9 multiplayer maps by way of free access to the first three DLC map packs after launch.

During their investor call this week, THQ announced that the South Park RPG was getting delayed, and that the company may no longer be publishing Tomonobu Itagaki’s Devil’s Third. For those worried about another of their upcoming titles, inSane, a THQ rep’s statement may put your mind at easy.

Danny Bilson, THQ’s Executive VP of Core Games, took to Twitter to deliver the message:

“Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘inSane’ is not cancelled!”

inSane, a project that sees the filmmaker teaming up with THQ and Volition, is said to be a “Lovecraftian horror adventure” with a “pulp narrative and creatures with tentacles”.

In an interview with MTV last summer, Del Toro stated that the game had “two or three more years to go”, which no doubt explains why we haven’t seen much of it yet. As the project could certainly end up being an interesting one, it’s good to hear that it hasn’t suffered a tragic fate.
